Received my catalog from s&w today. They have our mavs listed. Anybody ever ordered one? How was the fit? Like mine tight with the body as possible.
    Regards.

I've installed a couple S&W cages in mavericks, mustangs, and one in a Talon/Eclipse.....they are good "catalog" roll cages and will satisfy the majority of consumers, but nothing beats a custom bent cage.

Thats kind of what I expected. Didnt want to go to the expense of buying a bender. But I probably will since Im very fussy about my fabrication.
    Thanks.

I just received my cage from alston's. They're not too bad except for the rear struts. I might as well throw them in the trash. No way they will fit! We've put in tons of cages from S&W. Decide which style you want whether it's one with cage sides or the halo type. S&W will work with you pretty good. We use to do custom bent cages but we sold all of our equipment. Now we just install kits. You can make minor adjustments to a kit and make a good looking cage. As long as you're not going faster than 8.50 I would'nt spend the extra for a custom cage. How fast do you plan on going? Stock firewall? Stock floorpans? Back half car?

Gonna keep the body stock with Caltracs, etc. Probably go the kit route.
Ive talked to a fellow also that had a Alston kit in a car purchased already, and it was a piece of ****, according to him. They trashed it.
S&W has a good reputation, inventory, and REASONABLE prices. Compare with others out there, been doing that:)
Heck, for BBF's alone they offer around 4 different motor plates. But, its a 393 or 408 CLEAVELAND for us. It will all depend on what crank I find when we get there, since we only wanna go .030 over. I know a guy who used to do Jack Roushs personal machine work. He comes up with stuff all the time:thumbs2:
    Thanks for the reply.

Here's some pics of the RRS Coil-Over conversion.

And some of my cage....it's an S&W main hoop and I bent the rest.....SFI 25.5 spec and should certify to 7.50 in the quarter. All chromoly and TIG welded by me.

    Nice pics Comet!
Thanks again. This is what I like to see, true homebuilding!!
Al and Sarah, whom post on this forum, went with a AJs? coil-over setup. Installing it on their new super-gasser. They had to rework the mounting.Things werent where they should have been. Hope its worth it with all the work involved. Have you run with your set-up yet?
I like your front stringers outside the framerails. Probably more stronger that way being wider than in the engine compartment. Have been knocking the idea of going SFI spec for our cage. My son will be driving when we get it sorted out. Good insurance for his sake.
Seriously considering caltracs,10.5X29.5 tire and minitubs for us,plus a good cage should do all we want to do.
    Thanks again.
    Regards.

I'm considering a roll bar for my future mav. Would you consider the S&W main hoop a bargain or would a custom bend get it closer to the body for not much more $$$. My cage purpose will be mostly for frame stiffness.

Also, why did you decide to go with a coil-over strut (RRS) versus a coil-over (total control style) conversion. I am trying to make a decision myself.

I have not run it yet with the current setup....I chose the RRS setup because it bolts in the stock location and this is required by the sanctioning bodies that I will be competing in. (PTRA, ORSCA)

Definitely a bargain and an excellent product.

The RRS setup allows you to get rid of the upper control arm, therefore allowing for a substantial "notch" in the shock tower. I needed the room for the headers, so the 447 can breath!! The TCP kit keeps the upper control arm.
