When you think about it, neither the "II" or the Maverick draws much respect from the muscle car crowd, Ford enthusiasts included. I own both! In conversations I'll say I'm restoring a car and when I tell them it is a Maverick, I get .I like the idea of driving something unusual and these type of cars actually draw the people wherever you go.
I used to have '76 Mustang Twice T-top with a v-6. Had to push start it when the motor was hot. Drove it until all the water leaked out through the water pump shaft and it got hot enough to break the porcelain loose in one of the spark plugs. I still got a good set of tail lights if you need 'em!
We like the Mustang II also. We had a '78 Hatchback. Some one else liked it to, it was stolen, never to be seen again!
Welcome to the board. I also am one of the strange ones that like the Mustang II, i think they can look cool if rodded.
