Hi, Ive read the tech articles on the V8 conversions. Theese I take are for Windsors though. What are you Cleaveland guys using? Regards. Al
When you bring a 351 to the party, you need all the 302 stuff... What you need to have specifically for the 351 is headers, intake, oil pan, and distributor. If you want to keep the Duraspark, you can use a 351m/400/460 Duraspark distributor in a 351c. The oil pan needs to be a car front sump. However, didn't you say you were going M2? If so, there are going to be alot of differences, even from a 302 Maverick.
Yeah, were gonna go Must 2 on the suspension. Probably have to go with a 351 M, or 400M 4WD truck pan or something custom. We will see once we get the block and trans located. I have a 69 and 68 mustang trans crossmembers also. Dont know if its close to the V8 Maverick version or not, havent measured yet. We are going to use motor plates for the mounting. Had some discussion with a freind who races Cleavelands. For stock blocks, Windsors wont take any abuse over 6,800RPM,through the grapevine. I beleive this, since theese folks are grass root racers who use stockers because of the expense. So its a Cleaveland block for me. Gonna 1/2 fill the water jackets with Hard-blok and .030 bore, plus a 3.8? stroke (377). According to him, its a real safe combo and runs great. Been running his for two FULL seasons now, its comming apart this winter though! Then I can get my stock crank offset ground, as long as it isn't cost prohibitive over one already done. Would rather have a forged one. If I maintain it properly it should be okay.Just trying to use what I have within reason.Could you please tell me how much room you have between the bellhousing flange and firewall if they could sometime? Unforunately, its getting cold here in Michigan,so things are slowing down. But the wheels are ALWAYS turning upstairs! Regards. Al 989-494-9746
I am not sure, you will have to confirm, but I believe Fox body oil pans will fit the M2 suspension. If so, there is no stock pan available for that swap, but there are plenty aftermarket.
Here is what I'm using on my Cleveland with the Mustang II conversion. It is a pan designed for Fox body Mustangs using a Cleveland. It is primarily a rear sump pan and comes with a long tube pickup.
I'l wait untill I get the motor in, but thats probably what Ill go with.I have to wait until the motor goes in cause Im setting the motor back.Find a used one at a swap or convert a junker. Anyone come up with that measurement yet off the firewall? I know its late! I can wait for later Did you go with coilovers or the O.E.M. style spring-cup style, on your crossmember? Time for bed now. Goodnight all my new Mav freinds.Thanks. Al
