so, we have no blower at all. dismantled everything to get to back of switches. (wanted to recover dashcap, anyway.) Found the brown wire in the 3-position switch cut, with a longer wire spliced into the end coming off the switch. It has a push on connector attached, but was just shoved into the space behind the instruments, not doing anything. There are four wires going into the switch, brown, blue, red & black from a plug. The brown is cut between the plug and the switch. Nothing is hot at the plug, either. I can get a pic if it'll help.

the brown wire should have power. i lost power to my switch recently and it wasn't a fuse i couldnt figure it out so i just ran a new wire off the battery with an inline fuse for now.

you may want to do a search for a ...wiring diagram...
the blower motor switch does more than turn the fan on. in my car that switch also turns my A/C on...:yup: (is yours an A/C car/)

The spliced-in wire is long enough to reach the fusebox, and I wondered if that's where it was run to. I knew one of those wires was suppossed to be hot, just didn't know which one! I changed all the fuses when I first started working on it, and they're all good.
