Mustang 2 V8 cars had 'posi' standard.... The gear is standard at 3.00, so you won't get a good gear, but the posi is there. Mustang 2 V6 cars could be had with a posi. It was an option, so not all will have it. The good thing about those cars is the V6 could be had with 3.40 gears, and maybe even 3.55s. If you found a posi 3.40 or 3.55 car, you could just swap chunks and not even have to remove the posi and resetup your gears. That is assuming you expect to use a nice street gear. Pinto 8" rears will have either 3.40 or 3.55 gears, but they were not available with a posi. Bobcats were the same, but posi was an option. Just some ideas. These cars used to be very common in salvage yards, but nowadays they are very thin.
Oh, and I am done on the spool arguement. I think about driving out and about with my family, and imagine someone losing control and hitting us, and it makes me feel strongly about these things. I use strong wording and cause an arguement with good people. I don't want that to happen due to a moment of strong feelings. I just want to get the info out there and the following discussion is a good thing I suppose. I was going around a slight 4 lane curve once in a car equipped this way, the road was only slightly damp. A normal car would have driven fine, but this car had a mind of it's own and headed for oncoming traffic. This was only at about 35 mph too! Scared the heck out of me. I had plenty of experience too... I would not have considered myself a novice driver. I don't know for sure, never will, but the outcome could have been far worse if I had been a novice. I kept control, but the butt clinching nearly ripped the seat! J/K... Done. Dave
ok i found a posi 8.8 rear end for a 79-83 ford mustang. will this link up or will i have to do fab work
Whats so hard about installing a 4bbl in cali? we dont have any inspections here, and if you have to get your car smogged as long as the carb and intake have a C.A.R.B. number they are legal ro run.
the 79 to 83 mustang is a differnt type of suspension and the 8.8 has no interchangeable parts with the 8". so no that diff will do you no good.
