Im doing the I6 to 302 swap and the idiot lights seem to stay on because there still set to work with the 200. i want to use aftermarket gauges but dont really want to have them mounted under the dash. i want to put in a speedo, tach, water, fuel, oil, and volt. i was thinking about getting a speedo and tach in one and a 4 in one from summit. what size are the openings in the dash? if that didnt work i thought id get a set with all the gauges and put the speedo and tach in the dash, but not sure where to put the others. do they make gauge pods for mavericks that go up the side of the window? i also thought of cutting holes in the gauge panel for the other gauges but not sure how to go about doin that.
any input pictures or ideas is greatly appreciated
    thanks

The gauges don't know if they are reading a V8 or 6 cylinder...12 volts is 12 volts. I think I saw Mustang II gauges in a Maverick...this will give you a Tach and oil/temp gauge. Maybe someone else can chime in on this swap

The idiot lights illuminate when the corresponding wire in the engine bay is grounded. Sounds like your new engine has the wrong sending units. The sending units from your I6 should be a direct swap to the V8. But of course, real gauges are always a better idea.
