Was looking to paint my interior black(metal dash and other areas) and I was wondering if taking out the windshield and back window would make life easier? Can I do this in a week?I am an amatuer mechanic. Are windows easy to find so I can just break the old ones?
On a seperate note, I just ordered Urethane front end bushings and KYB shocks. I would like to replace the inline 6 sway bar without putting a back sway bar on. Any recommendations on the size of the bar? By the way, I will be converting to a 302 sometime in the year.
    Thanks for viewing!

Mike, in most areas glass is not easy to come by. If your glass weatherstrip is in good condition and does not need replaced, it would probably be best for you to take the time to mask off the glass and tarp the interior. If the headliner is good, you will want to mask that off too. If your weatherstrip is bad and leaking, then take it to a glass shop and have it replaced. Of course the only way to get experience in glass removal and installation is to do it. First one I tried to remove I broke and I learned what not to do. Now I am better at it but there is always the risk of breaking glass which = $.

Back glass and windshield weatherstripping are available. If yours is dry rotted, I'd replace it. In that case you can remove the glass yourself. The hardest part is getting the stainless trim off. They make a tool for that. Get one. Removing the glass is the easy part. Just get a sharp razor knife, slide it under the rubber lip on the outside, and cut the lip of the gasket off untill all the edge of the glass is exposed. Then gently push out the glass. Reinstalling is the tricky part and where you will break it if not careful. Best left to a professional ifyour not sure.

....besides, it is not easy to clean up all the glass pieces!

Thanks for the replies guys, it helps quite a bit. My seals don't currently leak but are a little hard, however, I think ill just mask off the glass as my whole interior is shot anyway. If I do replace the seals in the future, I will just take the glass out myself and have a shop install new seals for me.

    Thanks for helping me out.

The back glass is a whole lot easier. I broke my windshield when i tried the first time. it cracked, i got mad and threw a spare tire through it. Sure felt good afterwards though!!! Good Luck

you mean the rubber gasket or do you mean the trim pieces that are aluminum? The gaskets you can get from Auto Krafters or Steel, both are online. I get my products from Craig Selvey on the board, do a search for him if you want, he has a good selection of parts.
