Well after thinking about it all winter long I went ahead and ordered the hooker 6208 headers from Jethot.
They will be here next week with jethot's coating and with shipping it only cost $609.00 now I know that sounds like a lot but summit sells these with hookers coating for 619.95 PLUS shipping so if you are going to get a set with coating go with Jethot.

I will have a ton of pixs coming just as soon as I pick up my NEW tranny from PA and put my motor back together.
I know that a lot of people with 351W will like to know if these headers fit and what mods will have to be done.
Stay tuned I will let you know in the next 5 to 6 weeks (still cold here)

I had BAD luck with Hookers coating. I bought my headers about 2 years before I had the car running ,you know gathering parts as money permitted. When I got the headers I noticed they were not coated on the inside, but didnt think much of it. Well When I finally put them on the car they began to bubble up with rust UNDERNIETH the coating, and It didn`t take but a couple of weeks before you could easily flake the coating off with your fingernail! (You know just like if you paint them with a spray can)

Called Hooker and they said that because It had been so long since I purchased them ...they could only re-coat them for me ...for $165.00 ! The guy said that if you store them for a long time after they are coated ,Moisture will get between the metal and the coating, thus causeing the rust and flaking of the coating.

On a happier note: I`ve stumbled across a guy who scrapped his 351w 1968 mustang project and is selling off all the parts he had bought. Among those parts is a set of brand new Hooker 6208 (painted) headers still in the plastic bag they came in,with no box, hardware, instructions or gaskets. He cant remember what he paid for them ...but he is gonna offer me a price this weekend!

I'm glad to see someone trying these headers with the 351W. Bossmav, has PA already built your tranny?? If not, let me make a suggestion.....I bought my tranny from PA and If I had to do it over again I would have went with JPT in Michigan. JPT is on the cutting edge when it comes to C4 technology and they turn out a better product for about the same price.....

I will be using the 6208`s on a 393 windsor in my car later on.
At the time I make the swap I will cut the towers . I will document the whole swap on my web site ,and post some pics here as well.
Right now I`m just gathering parts... :bananaman :D :bananaman

Sorry it’s taken so long for me to reply I’ve been playing with my new toy. My Boss (Kathy) and I have just bought a 1987 Fleetwood Limited motorhome in like new condition and I’ve been playing with it.

Dan I like pic's too but I always have a problem getting them the right size.
I don't work with computers on a daily bases any more and since I gotten sometimers which I now think has became mostimers and I know will one day be altimers. I have a bad case of CRS (Can’t Remember Shit) and as soon as I figure out how to resize my photos and make everything work by the time I need to post then again I have forgotten how.

CometGT1974, I have a good friend who has gotten me a deal from PA’s owner that I just can’t say no to.
PA is selling me a upgraded Comp Tranny with the 6 planetary gears for a price that is unheard of, so I’m going to try that first. They are only 2 hours away so if I have a problem I could drive there and back for a lot less then shipping.
Thanks for the heads up on JPT.

I'm going to try to post a pix of the motorhome, try being the key word.

Hooker Super Comp Headers coating are junk. Also wile I'm at it i must say that I had major issues with these headers. The drivers side rear primary wouldnt clear the steering box.I rechecked all the part #s and all checked out ok the i called Summit,Then they gave me the # for Hookers tech line.Still no resolve mabey they got the wrong part # stamped on them So after all that i orderd a set of Headmans. The packaging was great not just thrown in a box with a piece of cardboard between to seperate them,Also as i had both sets of headers side by side i compared coatings hands down the Headmans were better. They fit like a glove and i saved $$$$$$.Just my... .02

P.S............... Bossmav I cant wait on the P.A. Trans......

Killercomet, what part# were you using? The 6208 headers take a little bit of work to get them in there but I never had problems with the steering box!

I'm sorry if it sounded that i was trying the 6208's.I understand that they are a little tricky.I called Summit and asked for Super Comps for a Maverick/Comet .And he sent them I forget the part #.

bossmav, i have a 90 limited by fleetwood. i bought it last october from a couple in phoenix. there parents had owned it. must have decided it was too much for them to handle. 37' long. had 45k miles on it and the 6.5kw onan had 345 hours on it. nice rig. i towed a flatbed trailer with my maverick on it last weekend and cruised home at 75 mph. doing a search on yahoo i found a limited club. can't remember the site. i'll have to try to find it again. good luck with it. :)

They may have been.I wish I could find the paper work with the part #.The Headmans are #88306.I did like the contruction of the Hooker headers the collector flanges are thicker (5/16 vs. 3/8)and welded. Also the primaries of the Hooker SC headers are 18 guage VS. Headmans 14 guage). But the coating and packaging i was a little displeased with.If the Hookers would have fit i would have used them. One more thing the Hokers were $510 coated and the Headmans were $289 coated.I like the price difference......

My 6901`s fit like a glove...possibly the easiest headers to install I`ve ever seen. But Hookers ceramic coating is GARBAGE:(

I guess what really pi$$ed me off was that I took 4 vacation days to install MSD ignition,Trans,New converter,Hurst quarter stick shifter and the headers.Well Its very easy to install the Headers with the trans out.And since they wouldnt work i was spending most of my time off dealing with Sumitt and Hooker.

Don, thanks for the info on your 90 fleetwood. I'm looking forward to using my motorhome this spring, summer and fall.

My 87 has the 460 with a 600 holley carb and only 46,000 starts and runs like new. The inside and top of the motorhome are like new, must have been stored inside when not in use. I also have the onan 6.5 gen with only 136.4 hours I put the .4 on it.
I have the 35FT and it's long enough as it is... 2 more feet now thats BIG!
If you find the site to the Limited club please let me know.

The only problem I have right now is the back A/C unit is not working at all I can't even get the fan to work.

Sorry to hear about your header problem KillerComet, but if you are using the old Hooker Supercomp header that was made to fit our car then I know you are having big time problems. Hooker changed to another part number about 2 or 3 years ago and still had some fitting issues.
I'll call Bob this week and see when we all can get together and make the trip to MD.
