:tiphat: I just replaced the battery cables on my 6-cyl. 70 Maverick. On the old ground cable, which ran form the negative battery terminal to the engine block, there was a clip attached, through the insulation, to the wire (I'm sure this was the original factory cable) which was then attached to one of the mounting screws on the voltage regulator. Of course the new cable is not set up this way. It has a lead coming out of the connector to an opened splice. Do I need to run a ground wire from the regulator mounting screw to the Neg. battery terminal connector (to the splice), or isn't the regulator already grounded by it's attachment to inside wall of the engine compartment? Any insights will be appreciated!

I would. It was there for a reason. I always run a ground there.

Thanks. Reasonable replies... I have the old cable. I'll use it for a ground from the VR to the battery neg. until I can get a proper wire to splice in place.
