I've heard a lot of good things about the 4.0 and there's actually some hop-up parts for them.

their the same block minus the crank (buick 4.1 blocks(thicker blocks) had same crank as turbo 3/.8s)

carbed N/A buick 3.8s just had no nuts because of the way they tuned the distrubutor..along with the poor cam and gear choice(2.43s)!
but yea...driven both...stock for stock the mav would get the buick off the line...on the hiway it'd be a goods race haha

    but back on topic
i'd just got with a 302...cant beat v8 power...if you stay stock or mild, and ofcouse stay out of the gas economy will be aight..more so with 2.x gears
or 3.x gears and an overdrive

Why is it impossible? I have a 4.6 that I put in my 57 Ranchwagon and had to convert it from rear, to front sump. I just cut the oil pan by drawing a line about 1/2" down from the bolting flange, cut off the pan, spun it 180º, and welded it back to the flange. Then I just made the pick up tube to work. Maybe you could do something like that to yours.

That's what I was planning to do, but when I pulled the oil pan off, I found that there is no pick up tube. The oil pump is just a solid chunk of cast aluminum that goes to the bottom of the pan.
