I had the roller cam top end kit. Edelbrock cams aren't that great. I replaced the Ebrock cam with a Comp XE.

I think their heads are pretty good, but I looked into the cams that come with the kit, and it's not what I needed, so I'm going to just buy the heads alone, then shop for the rest of the other parts by themselves.

those are great kits. they are well matched and rember when you try to price out doing it all seperat dont forget the gaskets, bolts and timing chain. make shure the vavle springs will match the cam.

i didnt have the heads, but run the performer cam, intake and 600 carb with a set of hooker 6901's in a '71 I had and seemed to work really well together..... the cam was a bit smaller than what i was looking for at the time but for what it was it all played great together

and on a personal note, ive always been fond of the FRPP roller cams.... just my .02 :)

A lot of people still run "alphabet" cams and are satisfied, but they are 20+ year old technology. There are much better choices available today.

i am running the ford f303 cam. the only real draw back of fords leter cams is that they are desgined to work with fuel injection so with a carb you give up some possible performance.

They also don't have the fast lobe ramps like many of the modern cams employ. But yeah, with a NA carb you'd like to run 108*-110* LSA.

i'm happy with it.... it's nice to know everything worked together with no problems. and for the 6500 rpms i push, it breathes just fine, especially for the price.
