can any one tell me approx. where the crank centerline is supposed to be on a v-8 maverick. putting in a 5.0 fuelly motor in a 74. and would rather use the plate instead of the rubber mounts. thanks
maverick5.0H0,i can't answere your question, but was wondering where in northeast ohio are you from?i'm in geneva,45 east of cleveland.nice to see another ohio mav on the forum.take care...chuck.
well I live in warren, the car is in garretsville, hoping to get it done by june to get it to Thompson, hoping to get it in the tens
why not just use the '74 mounts, then bolt the motor in place, then bolt the motor plate onto the front cover and fab the brackets to the frame from that. Then, just remove the '74 mounts and you're set. That way you know for SURE that the motor is mounted in the exact same place as it was from the factory. FWIW, the crank centerline should be parallel to the centerline of the chassis and I think the factory has it offset to the passenger's side about 1/2" if I remember correctly. Good luck
Well that's part of the problem , don't have any mounts at all. the car was originaly a 6, when i got it under the hood is empty, the guy i got it off of blew it up back in 1985, pulled the motor ,was going to put anouther one in, took everything out of the engine comp. to paint and clean, lost interest. so i got the car and pretty much nothing else to go with it.
