I just sold a Maverick Grabber to a fellow member and it got me thinking about how many miles that car travelled just to get to him. It was built in Kansas, went to California, then east to Oklahoma, then Texas, then Georgia, and finally to Florida. How much travelling did your car do before you got it? Jim
Not much for mine. Built in Kansas City, MO shipped to McMahon Ford in St. Louis, MO. Sold new to a couple in St. Louis, who sold it to my uncle, who sold it to me in 1978. I am the third owner and I live 26 miles from the dealer that sold it new.
i think mine came from memphis. when i got the car it had a chrome plate on the back that said Ewis for Memphis
Kansas City (factory) ... then to California (dealer) ... then to North Carolina (second owner) ... now .. home to Georgia (me) ... I don't have the history between CA and NC ... but there was an Oil Change receipt in the car when I got it from Utah ...
My Green Comet was built in KC and shipped to Florida, where the original owner bought it. It is quite possible that it has never left the state since then, if the original owner never road-tripped it in the 70K miles he put on it. I bought it in '92, and it has 160K on the clock now. It has been very close to the GA state line several times but never over it ... Neat thing to think about! ... Thanks for starting this post.
My 73 Grabber, was built in Kansas, went to California, then driven to Ontario in 2000. My 74 Grabber, was built in St.Thomas, shipped to British Columbia, then driven back to Ontario in 1990, 15 minutes from where it was built.
I do not have a report on my 74 yet but I know it was bought new in St.Pete,Fl. and ended up in Ocala,Fl.
My Comet GT was built in Kansas City. Then it shifted gears over to Arkansas, ran it's miles down a quarter mile at a time and then sat under a shade tree for 15 years. Next, a trip down south and it came to Georgia, where I bought it. After that, it drifted south of the border to Fl, where it resides now. Jim
Built in KC...shipped to seattle WA..Seattle to ridgecrest CA (where I purchased it from the 2nd owner)...driven from China lake CA to Buffalo NY be me and the wife after I mustered out of the navy.Plan to cross a few more state lines with it once I finish it up
Mine was made in Kansas City, MO, then it went to Memphis, TN where it was sold locally, then was sold at an estate sale in 03 to a man in Paris, TN, and I bought it from the second owners estate sale in 07. So my car has pretty much stayed in the TN/KY area all its life.
My Maverick Sprint was built in Kansas and was ordered by a small town dealer in Ga. It stayed within 20 miles of that dealership until last year. It then moved south to the Sunshine State, where it now resides now. Jim
