Anyone know how to convert my 75 Comet to manual steering? What parts are needed?

Do you mean the existing steering box will work if I change the link and pitman arm?

Yes, keep your ps box and just put a complete manual linkage set up on it including pitman arm. I have a couple of those set ups. Email me directly if your interested.

What about ratio of the PS box? Any one have a source for a 3.5 turn box?

The manual center link and pitman arm can be ordered at a local Autozone, or on Autozone.com. Vendor for theses is a company called "Rare Parts"

The ps box will be difficult to turn. Might want to grab a manual box while you are at it, unless you are running stock sized or smaller front tires. I drove with the ps box for a few weeks on 215/60 tires and ended up putting in the manual box. Lots of turns from chock to chock, but it is much more manageable when parking and maneuvering parking lots.

Not at all, unless of course your some kind of wussy :D Seriously, I run 215x60x15 on the front and do not find it at all bad. I like the quicker ratio of the ps box.

I admit that it DROVE just fine with the ps box, but the way my wife and I have to squeeze into our garage...a bit of a hassle. I kinda have to go around a little chunk of wall that juts out and shimmy into a space behind that wall, otherwise the wife has no room to get her car in. THAT was a major hassle, so I put in the manual box. I kept the ps box in case this obstacle ever goes away, ie. new house with bigger garage.

The rest of the time it wasn't really that bad.

I agree, though...more :drive: and less parking...:(

I'll try it first with the existing ps box. I live in the boonies and have lots of room to turn. One stop sign, close, and one light about 6 miles away. Thanks "MavComms".
