I wanna put around a 130 amp alternator in my car....is this safe? i dont wanna burn bulbs ext. I know i should go with the 1 wire gm setup ....and bypass the regulator....i wanna make sure 130 isnt too much, my cars fuel injected and i dont think its getting enough juice to the sensors!!.....:hmmm:

You won't get 130 amps. You'll only get what you need, but it is capable of 130 if that's what you use. I don't think it should be a problem. I have the 100 amp on mine.:)

Basically bolt it on and you're good to go. My 1 wire goes from the back of the alternator to the turn off switch in the back of the trunk. You would need to run it to the solenoid on the fender.:) I've never really checked to see what's on my 95 Mustang GT.

Yup, as mentioned you should be fine, it will only use what it needs.

    I ran a 110 on my 66 Ford from a Tempo.

That truck had no accessories... just electric fan, ignition and brake/tail lights and headlights. A radio came eventually but it had no heat/defrost/air or any of the stuff your car proboally has.

It is quite safe if done correctly. I have a 200 amp alternator in my car. It still only produces about 13.8v at full charging, so it doesn't burn out bulbs or anything like that. The main thing you want to think about is upgrading the main wire that goes from the big terminal on the alternator to your main junction point(mine is at the starter relay). I ended up buying a power wire kit from PA Performance...it has very thick wire and a fuse in a fuse block that is large enough to handle that much current. You can see them here:

They aren't really cheap (about $32 and up), but the quality is very good..worth it I think.
