Hey steve the same can be said about the differance between a small block versus a big block........if you do the same upgrades to each the big block will out perform the small block:p but everyone deserves to be different,so why rain on thier parade........I mean common you like to polish a penut:D

I think builiding a 300ci 4.9L would be fun. In fact I bet I could build one to run low 10s on pump gas. ANytakers??? The bet is if I build it run 10.40s or less you pay the bill??? :D If I fail I will pay my bill and pay the same amount to you.
The car will be a maverick 70 model
Carb or fuel injection you pick
    No power adders, all motor.
    :bananaman :)

you would be better off using carbs on the 300 because there is no aftermarket stuff for the efi on them

kind of off topic, but I heard a man once say that he used 1 1/2 351c 4V heads on a 240 (one full head, and one that was cut in half...no water in block) and was able to go into the 9's in an old Mustang.

Not sure how much truth there is to it, but it would be cool!

i work with this guy. brian is only 24 years old, builds his own stuff (with a lot of help from sponsors) and although this ain't no inline 6 it IS a six. bottom end is STOCK! everything else is ported polished... you name it. he is not on the bottle. twin turbos have given him his personal best ...well i guess that means worlds' best... 9.4 and some change. by the way... he was all excited for todd as the 302 swap was taking place. always bugging(no pun) me to get that cam, manifold, carb etc. etc. going on the 100 dollar mav. a great guy and a REAL FAST jetta. he hates them damm ricers with their putt putt pipes!

Ken Dutwyler runs an all steel Buick GN single turbo V6 (252 Cu. In) and I saw it run consistant 8:50's in the 1/4 mile at LACR a few years ago. This was his test mule car. His legal Super Stock car ran just as fast.

This Friday in qualifying runs at Pomona a 4.0 ltr, Jeep engine powered Bantam roadster was running 8:40's no NOX in Comp.

    A 250 Ford 6 powered car ran 9's.

    There's a huge difference between a Buick V-6 and an old Ford 250 or 300 I-6...

Last time I saw one run 11.6 at E-Town.
    Mad Frenchmen with a 300 six , 3 Webers.
It takes well over 400 hp to turn those times.
I have photos of the car and have been contacted by the original owner/builder and found it was built right here within 5 miles of where I live.

A bit off subject but I have been trying to locate an old "Nam" buddy who raced with his brother in Orange county. They also had a machine shop there with their dad. Ran an altered-Ed Pink engine and was featured in Hot Rod mag in the sixtys. DiMatteo brothers. Just thought maybe you have run across Vince or his brother somewhere, any info would be appreciated.

The name sounds familar. Think they also ran at LACR(Palmdale). You might want to check with Bernie Longjohn there. He is the track operator. I haven't worked there since 1997.
