i was browsing around on the internet and ran across this for my '67 mustang and then i thought, why not a maverick? ill do just like they done... make 2 plates, shim them properly and attatch them together. i have a '94 GT with Cobra front brakes that i can pull and another '94 GT parts car that has the whole front suspension/brakes with slotted and drilled stock-size brakes. i really like this idea and if i can do it im going to. here's an idea of what im talking about.... http://www.edbert.net/brakes.htm http://www.mustangsteve.com/cobrabrakes.html thoughts anyone???
Ray, this would look (and function) awesome on your car!!! just thought about that when i seen you replied
Ms As geometry goes...that looks like a good set up to me. I would probably make the brackets out of steel. Then you really don't have to worry about galled threads and what not in a few years when you have to dis-assemble for service. Plus I over build everything especially when it comes to brakes. Thanks for posting. I like homebrew. Cleaver
if i make brackets, i promise they'll be steel. im familiar with it, have plenty and IMO would be alot better for this. i dont think it will be too hard. we'll see how it goes and ill post what i come up with and when
Got a few other things I'm trying to get done right now but that looks like a great project in the near future. Let me know when you get those steel brackets made.
I must have overlook this thread. I does any make a kit to upgrade the cars that already have front disc brakes?
Thats a very good idea. Now you could always be nice and send a set of those spindles to me so I can put them on my early fox mustang to convert to 5 lug
so correct me if im wrong, so all you need is the steel brackets to convert your drum brakes to disc. And you can you your same drum spindles ????????????
