My master cylinder has a smaller fitting on the front, and a larger one on the back. Both are 3/16" lines. Anyone have any idea what sizes these both are?
BUMP! Actually, I wanted to ask if there is any chance there is a standard and a metric hole on the master cylinder? I found 3/16" line in standard, and in metric, and the metric is a little bit bigger...
Without going outside to look...I think its 3/8" and 7/16". You want to use a line wrench to keep from rounding the corners on the fitting. If replacing the fitting make sure you buy the correct flare.
There not Metric, I know that for sure. For some reason Ford used the same line size, but different nut sizes, maybe so they wouldn't get mixed up? front to rear? I had to fab up one line for my car, and couldn't find the proper nut size, so I had to cut one off my new ss lines
But my stock one had the same sized holes. when I replaced it, all of a sudden I needed two different sized nuts. Of course, I don't know if the one I got with the car was stock from the factory...
Carquest has 8" adapter lines that have larger flare nuts for 3/16 line on one end. You might be able to use one of them for your MC to proportioning valve line. When I replaced all my brake lines, I cut the flare nuts off the carquest lines and used them on the new lines that I fabricated where other sizes were needed besides the standard 3/16 size. Several sizes are available, and my new lines look like factory. Might work for you if you want to build some new lines.
