The rear view mirror was not mounted when I got my 72 Grabber. I amassuming it mounts to the windshield as there is a gold residue left in what should be the mounting point.

Just for verification, can someone check theirs and take some measurements for the location, fore and aft, and the distance down from the top. Also, what kind of quick dry adhesive should be used?

They make a kit just for that. It usually includes a few of the buttons, a cleaner-activator, and the glue itself. Any parts store should have it.

I havn't measured mine. You can mark the outside of the windshield with a crayon or a piece of tape. Put it where the spot is and then scrape the residue off with a scraper. Then you can use one of them kits stepside is talking about. The tape or mark helps you know where to put it...

I raised mine because I am tall enough that the stock location put the mirror RIGHT in my line of vision, and I almost pulled out in front of a truck one day. I came home, popped off the mirror, and moved it up a few inches. It is now mounted just 1-1/2" below the top of the glass.

Why are you worried about putting it where it was when stock? Just center it and put it where it is comfortable for you to see into it...

I am not sure where the stock location is. I am only guessing where it was based some residue on the inside. This will give me a basis for trial. Thanks for the data.
