i keep on finding it harder and harder to find 8" rear ends now a days. i haven't spotted one in over a year at the junkyards.Last time i went to one i found 5 (9") and two factory 4.10 locker 8.8"s but cant find a single 8"....is this only in so-cal? i know a couple of hotrodders are now using the 8's instead of the nines and the vega crowd ago uses them....seams weird to me.

there is a mustang guy here that works nights, he goes to the local pull-a-part every other day and pulls every maverick and comet 8" rear. he even gets the disc brakes. I got notified about a 76 maverick late one evening and took off the next day at lunch and there he was and all of it was in his cart.

They're about a dime a dozen in these parts. I've got several just sitting around, have passed up countless in the junkyards...

I have 4 8inch rearends in my backyard that we kept from parts cars. They are nothing special here.

I sell them as fast as I get them in and I have a waiting list. Street rod guys love 'em.

I saw one on Monday. Hillside pick-a-part off of Pyrite in Riverside.

1974ish Maverick 4 door with V8. I got the engine frame stands and the rear defog. It had the rear end as of Monday. I assume that it was an 8 incher.
Engine had been pulled. Exaust manifolds and C4 were still there. I did not take the defog switch either.
Main level, go west towards the imports and small cars, left on the dirt trail. On the left side roughly half way to last row.

Jeezus if they're that popular, I'm going to the yards on Saturday to load up. I know where there's a few. Some are in my back yard, literally (I have a few 8" housings I believe). I even think there may be a pig or two out there.

And disc brakes...Yes..I ALWAYS get those off of Granadas, Mavericks, Comets when I see a trashed one in a Junkyard. Cleaned up, they're worth some money. Though usually the rotors are shot.

All you have to do is advertise them and you will have no problem selling them. I have one street rod shop that will buy all I can get. Once he took a load of (5) of them.

I assume this is only for the 5 lug models. I have an extra 4 lug 8" that I have no plans for. Does anyone make use of the 4 lugs?

If they're so popular all the sudden, how come nobody is making cheap trac loc's or limited slip's for them like the 9? You can buy anything you want for a 9, from dirt cheap up to mega bucks bullet proof.
