You have a good eye. I think the car has been over detailed. I also now realize this might be the same guy that contacted me about 2 months ago with a mint 72 Grabber. He asked me what I thought it was worth and I gave him an idea. I think my max was $8000.00 He replied that he had offers of $17,000.00 I asked for pics but never heard from him again. Judging the spirited bidding in this early phase of the auction. He might get closer to that than I ever could have imagined. Dan
If he had offers for $17,000 he should have took them! He's really gambling on eBay since there was no reserve or it was already met ...
He's over 5100.00 now...my 7 grand estimate may have been a little conservative...if I had a Mav like that and someone offered me 17 grand for it I'd take it and buy me 2 or maybe 3 more nice Mavs with the proceeds
Yeah but if his buddy were to drive up the bidding too high and won the auction he'd owe PayPal a commission still ...
I would say that this Maverick has been worked over at least a little. I agree about the horn pad and I am not sure that is a OEM AC unit under the hood. Either way, the car appears to be in very good condition and has been well kept. Too bad it doesn't have factory high back buckets and floor shift. I'm in the process of getting my '72 Grabber that way. I even have an original consolette (just need to find the clock) installed.
Thanks for the comment. A lot of hard work and time has gone into this project. I still have more work to do. Am trying to locate an OEM complete power steering unit to install in my car. I live in Conyers, GA. I moved up from St. Petersburg, FL about six months ago.
I have a brand new OEM Power Steering unit for your car!! I am in Forsyth County Cumming! All parts are new/rebuilt .... pump, cylinder, hoses, control valve - the hole setup! Out of a 72 Grabber ... Call me at 404-918-3283 .. Still in car just gotta deinstall out of my first project that I gave up on ..
David; I am the MCCI rep for Georgia. Welcome to the boards, and I hope you find a home here like the rest of us have. There are many knowledgeable and helpfull people here to assist in everything Mav/Comet related. Pls consider joining the MCCI. It is another valuable resource. BTW, I am in Jenkinsburg, just down the road. Mail me if there is anything I can assist with, or information I can provide. Take care, Earl
$6,600.00 and climbing, that in itself has to be the highest I have seen an all original Maverick go.
That car is going to break $10k I think. David, that is one outstanding looking Grabber. Welcome to the board. Dan
It may have been said before, it is exciting to see this cars start to command these kind of prices, but sad on the other hand in that it will become harder and harder to pick these cars up at rock bottom prices.
If that car was ever driven in that snow much in the winter, it's going to have some rust problems on the undercarriage, cowl, and possibly the trunk. I'm just not convinced this car has been babied enough to not have any rust and be that clean. Does anyone have good pictures of the undercarriage and trunk?
