I know the subject has been beat to death and I've already did a search on it but I still need advice on front spoilers. I have one that came from MAS but it will not come close to fitting and when I tried to start at the middle and work my way out it cracked in the middle. So, I want to use a Mustang spoiler but would like to know what others used on their Mavericks. I've read 69 or 70 Mach 1 will work or 69 Shelby also. I think I'd prefer plastic since it will bend easier but there might be other issues with this that I'm not aware of. While I'm asking questions, I've got another one for you guys. If you did the small bumper swap, did anyone have problems with getting the quarter panel extensions to fit?? My drivers side fits snug against the taillight panel but the other side is about 1/8" away from it. I didn't notice any gaps when I pulled these off the donor and it's something thats hard to see in the gallery of others cars. Sorry for the long read and thanks in advance for any replies!! Scott
Scott, I'm looking for a front spoiler for my 72 Comet GT. I'm looking to get one from the Maverick Connection that sells on ebay. Their link is: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmaverickconnection I haven't orderd the spoiler yet but was going to try one from them. Thanks for letting people know that the one from MAS doesn't fit well. William
The MAS ones suck, I think thats been said a few times, Plastic 69 Mustang ones are pretty inexpensive, I was told one for a 69 Shelby will fit, but I've never tried. Post a pic about your extensions, so we can see what your talking about, They fit different from car to car, the contour isn't always the same as the quarter panel.
Yes, I would really like to try one of the 69 Shelby ones. I've never been real pleased with the MAS ones but have tolerated them.
I was just looking at spoilers at CJs Pony Parts. They list units for 69 Mustang, 70 Mustang, and 70 Shelby. They all look different, too, going by some smallish pics that they post. Makes me wonder if the 70 valance is shaped different than 69. Of the three, I like what they show as the shape of the 69 the best, mainly how the ends are shaped. $59 for the 69 model, $169 (!!!) for the Shelby spoiler. Going by the pics, these are ABS plastic. All that being said, I can't vouch for these. Never seen them in person.
I have the $169 Shelby one. It is plastic. I have not mounted it yet. I saw one mounted last year at the Roundup Nationals and it fit very good. I held mine up to my car and it looks like a direct fit. When I get around to mounting it....I will post some pictures.
Thanks for the replies guys! CapatainComet is right about the look which is why I'm asking questions again. I've seen a guy at the local cruise-ins who has both a 69 + a 70 mach 1. I'm gonna talk to him and see iif he'll let me bring my front valence and make a direct comparison to his. Dave, I've got the pics but now my camera is dead! What i was talking about is how the extension fits against the taillight panel not the quarter panel. Both sides fit the quarter panel fine but the right one is away from the taillight panel about 1/8" and the left fits up snug. Maybe my tailight panel is bent in further on the right???? My long ones(77) fit snug on both sides so I'm starting to think its the extension. Thanks again!! Scott
