I have a 73 Maverick and it has a big nasty front bumper and I was just wondering if there was a conversion kit for a smaller bumper or can I install a fiberglass valance piece like i have seen on most Mavericks. Thanks Jake
alright, would you happen to know how easy it is because i have never dealt with changing out different bumpers on different years of cars Thanks Jake
Welcome aboard Jake. Type in "small bumper swap" in the search box above and you should find lots of threads related to this subject. Read away!
i did the swap on my car. i went from to 74-77 bumpers to 70-72 bumpers you have to drill 2 holes in each frame rail to send bolts through to hold the bumper brackets and the piece between the grill and front bumper needs to be trimmed back a little. the 70-72 front valence is a little diffrent then your 73 so if you want the full look you should get that too but the 73 valence you have works just as good bumper, bracket, valence, drill and some nuts and bolts is all you need
Thanks guys, i am glad that you guys are nice about advice because this is the first car I have tried to restore and being 17 i don't know a lot, but I am going to be asking you guys a lot of questions because this car has not moved since 76 Thanks Jake
That is a very nice 73 it would be nice to have bumper look like that, but I like the 70-72 bumpers, but that does look amazing, Jake
That car was at the Dream Cruise in Detroit last year. I think that photo was taken there! Car is about the best looking Mav I have seen in a long time.
Yep! There are about the size of a picnic table and just as heavy. This is a '74 rear bumper without the mounts and bumper guards.
