To do it right, take your time and drill out all your spot welds. You can cut the panel off your comet beyond the attachment points, then when you have it separate it can be placed on a bench where you can strip the old paint off and see where all the spot welds are. Drill them out one by one (probably 50 or so). All of this will help you when you remove the maverick tail panel (know where the spot welds are). There may be quicker ways such as simply cutting around the tail light holes of both cars using a template and then body glue or weld back in place. But to do it right, go with the time consuming first option.:Handshake

I changed a Comet into a Maverick, once years ago, we drilled out all the spot welds and swapped them, the car never did get finished, I bought another Maverick instead.

Why not just use the light assemblies?

    Paul,
The back panels are shaped different from each other. The Comet panel is concave and the Mav panel has a rib through the middle.

And the Comet panel just looks better ...:p

iv seen a hodge podge mav made into a comet with alot of bondo on the mav tail panel to get rid of the rib. it looked aufull! pluss the full rear qwarters were pop riveted on! mopar seats, comet hood and grill with a maverick badge bent in the middle! a sad mav that screamed "crush me now"
