    1977 Comet with a dinky 4.1L inline 6.
Hey guys, i just have a question or two to ask. So i currently have a 77 Comet with a stupid little 4.1L inline 6 which only pushes about 125 horses. I want to save up my money for a new or used crate engine that will give me some more power but will also not set me back too too hard and will fit inside the engine compartment.
If you have any suggestions i could really use a hand.

    Kevin

ha 125hp? probably more like 70 lol

im in the process of swapping my 4.1 out right now

302/5.0 would be your best bet. its a stock maverick engine with alot of aftermarket.

i'd say with a budget of $2k you should be able to find a decent motor and get all the swap parts. this is assuming your putting the motor in yourself. instilation would probably be another $2k

Do a search on here...that is a VERY common engine swap.

Most guys look for a junkyard 5.0, preferably with a roller cam, and swap it in. You will need a couple of extra parts, motor mounts, flexwheel, etc to make the swap. It shouldn't cost you much.

You could go the "crate motor" route, but you would still need the mounts and other extra parts to make it drop in.
