Yep. If you open your ash tray and look in, there is a round 'button' straight ahead mounted facing out at the top of metal backing. That button is popped out and that's where the lighter goes if ordered on the car. My 73 LDO came with one, but my other two didn't.
My 73 has 2 ash trays (1 front, 1 back), but it never had the lighter, the wire was still taped up to the wiring harness when I pulled the dash out.
All of the Mavericks I have owned had lighters in the ash tray. None of them ever worked, not that it mattered much since I don't smoke anymore.
My Comet has a cigar lighter. My Comet has no glovebox however, which is very lame. I have to keep registration and insurance in the ashtray, which is unused.
My '72 and '74 Grabber has them and they work/worked. My '69.5 and '73 4 door do not have one, but both have the wire for it back there. Only thing I ever use it for is cell phone charger. But I did use it for this when it got really hot one day: That's a 12V DC to 110V AC power inverter with a little fan we had laying around plugged up. It was a godsend while sitting in traffic on a hot summer day with no A/C.
When I ordered my car in '74, I remember including the lighter on the option list. I smoked two packs a day until 1999 then quit using the patch. The Maverick I have now is loaded but no lighter.
