The mav is gone but i'm still here!
on friday me and my uncles were wokring on the mav....took the valce cover off and found a valve(#8) sticking open so we got it unstuck and reset all the valves, and cranked it ove and all the valves were looking good, so i put everything back...then my uncles checks the coolant and tops it off and i hear in the back like water in dripping down. but i just dismiss it and turn the key and again it seizes so i try to turn it over by had and nothing,so i check the oil and its reading half way up the dipstick. So i take out the oil pan plug and water just pours out about 14qts of water and 4 of oil:mad:

so yesterday i began to tear it apart found out it didnt have a thermostat in it(i wondered why it took forever to warm up)intake was in good condition, carb was runing way to rich, water pump looked good, all the gaskets looked good, dizzy had normal waer on the gear, the block looks good from the top and out side...today i'm taking out the heads

    anyguess on what went bad?

Damn, that sucks. I would think head gaskets or the timing cover/water pump gaskets went bad and let water dump down into the pan behind the timing cover. I'm sure others will have more suggestions. Hope you get it sorted out soon.

Intake leaking coolant into engine/bad head gasket/cracked head/cracked cyl bore.I would think bad head gasket/cracked bore hence the T-stat being removed to keep pressure down.Good luck.

Dang dude, sorry about that. You should be able to find a good running used short or long block for a reasonable price. Good luck.

I have a used piston I could sell you.....connecting rod too if you need it. Just swap them out and you will be ready to go. No need to pull the engine either.

Did the cyl bore get damaged or was it the head that leaked coolant into the engine??? If its just the bore thats cracked, you can get it sleeved and be back in shape with a new piston and gaskets.Just a thought.

the bore looks/feels good from the top but dont know from the bottom, the heads not damaged and the head gaskets were good so i couldnt see the colant entering from there, still can find a shop that'll let me borrow a harmonic balancer puller, so i still haven't found the coolant leak yet unless the bore cracked near the bdc area.
