Well.... I dont know if you remember, but when i joined the board, i asked if there is some point we could check to confirm if the Stallion my father bought was the real deal. With all the info you gave us, we were pretty sure it was an original Stallion, but since my father bought the car without seeing it (only on picture) we still had a doubt it could be a clone... Well...today my father received his Marti Report and the car is an original Stallion!! And the car almost have no option!! 3 speed shifter on the floor, white lettered tire and AM radio and that's about it!! Maybe that why he was almost a year in the dealer lot... If i remember right, my father told me there was something like 34xx Yellow Stallion made... that's a lot!!! All i can say is that my father is very very happy to know he has a real Stallion almost identical to the one he bought in '76! My father wants to know if the engine is the original of the car...was the VIN stamped on the block? If so, where is the VIN?
yup, engines and transmission had vin stampings on them..... the V8 engines had it on the flat spot of the block behind the rear of the intake. trannies had it on the flat spot of the casing near the tailshaft housing. i cant remember where they are on a 6 cylinders but Jamie Miles has some pictures of exactly where they are
Thanks David! I really appreciate it! I sent the picture to my father...will see if his Stallion is 100% original!
Does that mean the vin number the car has will match the motor? i thought only Gm and mopars did that???
Sorry? I have never seen a VIN stamped on a Ford engine or transmission. They have the assembly number on them - a part number - but not a VIN that I am aware of.
My 1972 Grabber had a partial VIN stamped in the motor and trans. I have seen it on other Mavericks as well.
Yup, the engine in my 73 has the serial number of my first Maverick stamped into the top of the block at the back.
My father has not checked if he has the VIN on the engine, but here is a scan of the statistic he got with his marti report. I thought they were going to decode only the Stallion production number It would have fun to know how many were yellow etc.. Maybe with the elite report?
