I was looking at shop manuals and i found a few places that sell these shop manual CD-ROMS there about the same price as the normal book but looking at them looks like they hold alot more information and pictures. I was just wondering if some one whos used both could tell me which is better, i dont need a great shop manaul but seeing as there both the same price might as well go for the better one.
I'll let you know in a week or two. I have the CD version and just purchased a Paper version and waiting for delivery. I have a feeling that the paper version is going to be easier to use. The CD version is just a scan of all the pages of the paper version - you cannot do any searches or anything like that. Plus it's Windows Only and doesn't work on my Mac! It does have the Ford Parts manual as well which is well worth the price since the original is like 8500 pages ...
I will go for the reall book everytime. It is kinda hard to drag the computer out to the garage or in my case to the parking lot of my appartment. Of course you could spend a lot of money on paper and ink for your printer and then you don't have to worry about covering important information with greasy/oily finger prints. But still I would go for the real deal everytime.
Agree. Paper works best. I am in the automotive publishing business and 7 or 8 years ago I was inundated with people at trade shows who wanted to put manuals on cd rom. In my opinion, it just technology for technology's sake, as they don't offer any more info than the real book. Might as well print it in chinese for all the value that provides me.
