wondering if anyone had any pointers. i read the ford tech guides and it said to place a block of wood between the upper arm and the frame rail to hold the spring up but after expiermenting that whole procedure seemed pretty scary to say the least.

is clamping a compressior around the coil my best bet?

    thanks

The upper control arm will rest against the frame. You dont need to do anything to change the lower control arm.

so i ended up dropping out most the suspension today. im just gonna get the upper ball joints too. no reason not to since im this deep into it.

yup, thats the caliper tied up with an old plug wire

I had already dont all 4 shocks last summer

getting that lower ball joint out of the spindle was the most time consuming task of the day. i ended up unbolting the sipinle off the upper arm so i could take the whole assembly ou and get a good whack in on it

maybe one day i'll be getting the front up like that without the jack stands 8)

Dont you have one of those forked tools? I find it easier to do on the car.

the fork i have was too narrow to fit around the ball joint stud. i think the oe i have is only for tie rods

You have lower spring saddles to deal with but that will require a spring compressor. The old style were the best and had 3 fingers which securely held onto the spring. There are also upper spring insulators to contend with as well but that requires removing the spring

yea she really needed some attention tho up front and i figured since the front end is gonna be heavier with the v8 and the car's probably going to be going a litle faster i should invest in replacing some of the 32+ year old suspension parts

while you have it out, you might as well replace the strut rod bushings and the sway bar bushings and end links. They are all 32 years old too, I assume, and need replacing. MIne sure did
    they are cheap.
