how can i do this without taking it to the shop? i really dont have 85 bucks to get them to do it. how did Henry do it ? FORD that is . i dont want to eyeball it . can i use a string line and a level ? for toe in and out and camber ?
wait a week and get another paycheck and get it down right ive herd of an old school way to do it...but im sure its not as accute as doing it at an alignment shop
I would not recommend it without some Caster and Camber gauges. $85 is cheaper than replacing the tires frequently.
I would imagine that Ford did it with equipment that was worth way more than 85 bucks. Shop around, maybe you'll find someone cheaper, just make sure whoever does it, knows something about old cars.
Definitely take it to a shop. I did mine on my own and drove the car for about 30,000 miles like that. While it did not wear the tires excessively, I was amazed at the difference in how the car rides and handles after having it done by someone with equipment to do it right. Major improvement. I had mine done at Tires Plus.
ok thanks for the input you people are right, two years of waiting to drive this car what is another month or two
I let a shop do mine , they kinda balked because I had different size tires on it,14s on front-15s on back, I told them just do the best u can and it has been fine, it was either tire size or the fact it wasn't level (new springs in front had it sitting up in front) that they balked on 5+ yrs ago.
