if i hav a assembled 302 on a stand can I tilt it upside down while i pull off the oil pan to do what i have too do under there?

im thinking since the heads are still on it the rocker arms will hold the pushrods in and they'll hold the lifters in?

yeah you will be fine, the rockers are holding the pushrods holding the lifters

replace oil pan gasket, oil pump, rear main(not sure if its 1 or 2 piece) front cover seal...

yea. maybe it'll find a better home with a local fox body or something lol

do i need to pull the timing chain cover off first to get the pan out or would it be the other way around?

either way, there are 4 bolts on the bottom of the timing cover

you will need a front sump pick up also

and you will need a front cover with oil dipstick

as the dual sump has rear dipstick i believe

and if it gos into the block you will need to plug that, but i think it gos into the pan so your ok

if there is no oil in the motor when upsidedown, there should be no smoking on startup...
when you build a motor on a stand it is ...upsidedown....3-4 times...:yup:

be sure and drain the oil. there will be enough that some will get into the top of the eng any way, but it won't hurt.
