Well Im back on the grind now! Weather is nicer and longer days after work. Wondering if any of you guys have ever tried to build a Triangulated 4 link for street use. Again a Tri setup, not parallel like for use in drag racing. I know NO-ONE makes a kit for our cars so from scratch it has to be. But I found a place (an unlikely source) to order everything I need and should come in under $350. Best yet this stuff is built strong! Way stronger than anything I've seen square 2 x 2 x.25" wall (what Im using for the bottom bars), and Round DOM 1.5 x .25" wall (top bars) . Plus you can order the bars made to your length with bushings installed and adjustable if you want. If anyones interested I post the link.
I'm interested in any source for 4 link parts. From the way you describe the strength of the bars, my guess would be rock crawlers?
Thanks for the link. I've been thinking about those poly bushed ends instead of heims for a while now. They cost about the same as heims but just seem much more heavy duty. My only concern is if you tighten them up between 2 steel brackets, you would lock them up and prevent them from moving smoothly by squeezing the brackets. I was thinking about maybe using grade 8 bolts and some nylon jam nuts so I could tighten the links up without squeezing the brackets on them. Any thoughts? I do like those "Super Pivot" ends better but a 100 bucks a link is a bit too much for my walet.
I guess jam nuts would be ok. I dont know if you have removed any of those arms on a car that came with them from the factory, but they are pretty tight and dont flop around. Over-tightening them shouldnt be a problem, just use common sense, if the bracket is bending stop!
We are going to be doing a double triangulated 4 link on mine once I get the cash saved up to make a decent dent in the project to get started... the tools required are expensive as hell!
I don't see why the triangulated 4 link from chassis engineering in iowa would not work. I have it in one of my cars and like it
