Sorry to hear about this. I've had a couple of good encounters with him. He stopped to give my wife an autograph and was good-natured about it despite the fact he had something urgent going on at the time. About 15 years ago, my buddy and I were selling some of our old car stuff at a big swap meet. This guy in a leather jacket is picking through our stuff and my buddy leans over and says "That guy could be Al Hofman's twin brother". I looked, and said, "Hey, that is him." A nice short conversation with him followed. RIP Al
RIP Al! Always liked him, he was a racer that did more than drive the car. Along with his wife they were hard workers trying to catch the big break and enjoyed some good years along the way.
Let rest one of the best. Al was at the top of his game. He stayed on Forces heals. HE will be missed by all drag racing fans. Long live drag racing!
