I have a 75 maverick 4 dr.I would like to know what would be better.I have a 200 6 cyl now.Would it be cheaper to build it as opposed to buying a 302 and if so does anyone know how much horsepower u derive out of a 200.

been discussed to death and it is cheaper to buy and build a 302... You can get pretty decent HP out of your 200 but a 250 is better and if you want to see mild to wild on the I6 engines go to www.inlinesix.com or www.fordsix.com but building a I6 with HP is not cheap oh and http://www.classicinlines.com/

I found a rebuilt 5.0 long block for $200. They can be found in junk yards for cheap. I have even seen full engines out of an Explorer for $300, several of them, actually.

75 200 I6 only got 75 hp stock. Get at least double that from a 302/5.0. Quadruple that with a few bolt on mods...

Edit--daMad got it before I was done typing...

If you want performance just go for a 302. My 74 four door is a straight six. I love it, but it'll never really blow the doors off of anything.
