Hi all, I was wonder if a power disc brake set up will bolt into a Maverick? Master cylinder, power booster, brake pedal assembly, etc.? thanks, Fred Fermin 72 Grabber 302
Hi Craig, I was thinking about doing a disc brake conversion. Are there any aftermarket products that you would recommend?
Craig is right about a direct swap... But with some fabbing, folks have gotten many hybrid setups to work. The only difference in pedals is the location of the pin that hooks to the brake rod. Therefore you can save yourself alot of trouble there by just moving the pin. If you don't like or can't find the Maverick power booster, folks have retrofit other very small boosters. They are very thin so that you don't need the huge driver's side tower brace that is with the stock Mav booster. Do some checking around, there are threads here, or you can Google for early Mustang/Falcon booster swaps. They need small/thin boosters as well. Good luck Dave
"Do you really need POWER brakes on a v8 car?Sure is crowded in there" If you make it go faster you need to make it stop better. A 4 disk ABS system would be just about perfect, seeing how this 72 maverick v8 is my 16 year old daughter's daily driver. My other project is a 66 CJ5..... four drum slowing, we don't even call it braking. I am cutting holes in the floor pan to upgrade to Flintstone braking. Gary Lydia's crewchief
