What color should the power steering fluid be new... the stuff in my car was red but the stuff i bought was clear?
I usually see clear fluid. It's possible someone put ATF in prior. It's commonly used to substitute for power steering fluid. I've never seen it hurt anything, but you're better off using the real thing.
The factory actually called for Type-'F' tranny fluid for the power steering systems in these cars...
I have seen some synthetics that are clear too, like Valvoline. If it smells like p/s fluid, and it feels like it, then it must be!
