I would like to if the bracket that looks like it hangs off the steering gear can be removed for header clearance? I can't get the flange to contact the head due to this bracket being in the way. I just got the engine in and headers bolted up, but I nned that last "inch" of clearance to sung em down. i wish I would of noticed this before I got the engine in but I didn't.

So does anyone have the magic answer?

Here is a link to my install pics.

    Thanks for the help.

Are you talking about the bracket on the end of the ram? If so, they make a drop down bracket just for that purpose.

My power steering has been removed.
I think this bracket may be left over from the removal. I will try to get a pic of it. It is located on the driverside frame rail and looks like it is connected to the steering gear.

Is it the one in the second picture with the rod hanging down? the one with the slot in it? If it is thats your shifter linkage, most headers don't work with column shifted cars.

you can just barely spot it in the second pic.
My shift linkage has been removed, but here is a shot with a MS paint edited arrow.

I got it off guys. Thanks for the help. It was just the bracket that the shifter linkage bolted to. After looking at the pics again, and looking at the lingake it made sense to me. So I just unbolted it with a bout 4 extensions and a swivel on the end of my ratchet. LOL
But it's off now thanks again!!!!

Its hard to see but judging by the location of the arrow, I would say you are looking at the cross shaft bracket that goes to the shift linkage. It has 2 bolts, attaching it to the frame. If so, with headers, you will need to convert to floor shifter anyways, so just remove it.
