boogiedad cant tell about a condenser by looking. replace it with the points and you will be ok. bad condenser can cause your new points to burn up.

it sounds like you need to do a coil test first to find out what part of the system is out
with everything hooked up take a test light from ground to + of coil with key on you should have power now go to - side and crank you sould have blinking light.if on the + side you have no power its ingnition, wires,fuse... ok if you have power there but not blinking on - side problem is points, condentor,or dissy if both side check out then you have prob in coil,cap,rotor,wires,plugs..... hope this will help

    Ok,
New alternator and fuel pump installed. Gapped the points to .25 which the book calls for. Verified that the new pump is pumping fuel by disconnecting fuel line at the filter on the carb and got fuel feedback. Pouring gas down the carb produces an attempt to run but the choke is hard to work with and there appears to be laquering in the carb so I am guessing the next thing to replace is the carb . Should I replace it w/another carter 1bbl which is on it or go w/a holley?

Try cleaning it first, dont condemn the carb untill you know for sure its the source of your problems.May just be the old crummy gas in the float bowl causing the no start.

Am looking at the fact that I have replaced almost everything under the hood with new parts, why not just go ahead and replace the carb too? lol. Will post more pics soon as I get new batteries for the cam.

damn right it all adds up quick. Have spent almost as much in new parts as I did for the car to start with. Spent 450 for the car and somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 or so in parts
