Check out my website (see below) for all the pics you can handle.... Otherwise, it just looks like a regular ole engine... But it sounds pretty cool for a street car. Probably a little too loud, if anything, and idles kinda poorly due to the lopey cam. In other words, JUST WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED
the big difference between 750 and biger holeys and 700 and smaller holey that ive noticed is that there are idle mixture adjustment screws in the secendary metering block on the 750 and up. so if you dont have the mixture screws on the secondarys then you most likely have a 700 or smaller car, and thats good news for you.
Scott; does that carb seem big enough to handle the upper rpm range? I am getting my engine done as we speak, and I am using a Holley 600, vacuum secondaries on an Edelbrock Performer 289. I know the manifold needs to be better, just wondering about the carb size. BTW, using a Ford "B" cam. Glad yours in up and running. Been fun to follow.
Don't underestimate that intake. Seen them do really well before on up to and over 6k+ Buddy had a maverick with that manifold, 4:62 gears and in the 1000' you'd shift it at 5800 into 2nd and then into 3rd right at the finish line and was still pulling strong.
scott.. i know this is easy to say.. but instead of figting with that carb.. buy a brand new carb, to go with your brand new engine, that way you will have it set right, you know what it is, and you wont have to worry about it congrats on the successfu; road test.. now get out there and hammer it already...
Earl, I will let you know. I don't think it will be a problem, it is just running lean now. I got the big jet kit today, but am working on some other issues (moving my front bumper back where it belongs so gravel pan and grill will fit back on). The jets are currently so small, I think a previous owner blew a power valve and then tried to lean it out with much smaller jets. Personally, if I had a chance to buy new, I would go with the 670 Street Avenger... Plenty of carb plus a little room to grow if you need it.
No, that is NOT all that's left... currently lining up the front bumper then put the grill and gravel pan in. Also on the list is to finish lining and carpeting the trunk, new battery box mounted in trunk, fab up that inner passenger seat bracket, new seats that actually fit, welding the rear bumper supports in, replace all the front tie rods and probably ball joints, new front tires, alignment, list is much longer. Oh, yeah, and tune this carb (not buy a new one, you know me better than that simon). Buying a new one would 1) cost more than my motor, and 2) be WAY too easy
Well, I got my kit today and will start with 68/72 and see how it runs. Then just mess around from there.
im running a ford f cam with a wyand stealth intaked compriable to a performer rpm. my carb is a holey 600 dp. i ran it on a engine dyno and the vacumme indicated that the carb was still good at 6000 rpm. so i figure with the b cam you should have no problems with a 600cfm carb.
