Here is a before and after picture or rear frame rail work you have to realy look close to see all the work thats been done!! (the sheet metal work is not done yet)
As a chassis builder I have commented on what a great job these peaple have been doing on your maverick,I've tubbed dozens of cars and built many chassis from scratch,....I'm going to be as "nice" as I can but could you have them explain why they didn't just put a set of rails in it? I really don't like that rail narrowed to almost nothing, the strenth has to be compromised doing it that way,I just don't understand doing it that way,I would have just put rails in it,just my opinion...
Most all of the 10.5 tire classes that I want to run in state in thier rule book's that you can do anything you want to stock rear frame rails except move them in or cut inside of rail and absalutly can NOT REPLACE them with new rails of any type!!That's what make's this type of chassis so hard to build and make it work!!Further more any frame behind the shock mount back does nothing except support the rear section of body, trunk, ect. does not support suspention(no leaf's!!) if you look frame rail not been cut from where shock x-member is forward!!!!Plus there will be plenty of cage/chassis tube's supporting those frame rail's!! We would of loved to put rail's in it.NOT LEGAL and that what make's these car's so BAD ASS 7's with stock frame's!!!!!!!!
How many foot of tubing is in that thing so far? It amazes me to find out how much goes in to a race car.
Here is a picture for ACTIONRPM, the is a rear frame section from a 79-80 malabu that runs low 8's, look at those frame rails!!!!!!!!
