I worked on a bunch of Kansas City Southern locos. For 7 years, I worked for Morrison Knudsen (M-K Rail) when they were here in Pa. rebuilding locomotives. Most fun I ever had working.
Good to see some RR people here as well. Close as I've been to KCS country was Shreveport LA...was in town for a funeral 2 yrs ago. Didn't get a chance to see any trains tho.
Handled a few trains out of Shreveport. Worked between Meridian and Vicksburg for 17 years before moving toward the coast.
i remember that was was in pretty good shape the last i seen it. you had said you needed to do some work to get it road worthy though? did something major break or something from the last time i see it?
Just alot of stuff worn out. Front and rear brakes, distrib cap and wires, sparks, hoses, seals, filters, carb was hanging on by a bolt, solenoid was throwing sparks, shocks were beat, heater core leaked, radiator needed a flush, some of the dash indicator lights didn't work, plus fluids, alignment, etc. I wanted to start fresh.
