Thinking on cutting the hood on the Comet to allow running a taller filter element on the 3x2's. Only thing is, I'll have to reverse the air cleaner to do this and clear the rear of the under hood bracing. I'm looking at the Crites Comet GT/Cougar scoop to cover it and was wondering about the workmanship.

I don't have one of their scoops but I know they are very nice people to deal with and make a few parts that others are selling for considerably more money. I have a factory comet gt scoop and even they weren't made perfect. If you were bolting this to a stock comet gt hood bolt location might matter but in this case it shouldn't. I would recommend Crites.(y)

I have 2 fiberglass hoods from Crites, one on my Falcon, and the other on my Comet, but both are pre-mav era cars (65s). The comet hood is decent, but kinda wavy and flimsy in stock form. I cut the bottom out so the air cleaner sits inside, then had the top and bottom sections bonded together in the air cleaner area, which made the hood feel MUCH more sturdy. The falcon hood was much better to start with. It feels solid and is much straighter right out of the box. I know this isnt exactly what you were looking for, but Crites seems to be pretty good stuff from my experience.

Well guys, sounds like I can't go wrong with their stuff then. Thanks for the comments. Got new pics of the Comet on my photobucket site http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/baddad457/ Just recently got done with the 9" swap. The rear wheels are Wheel Vintiques 60's Chevy truck wheels in 15 x 10 (dual bolt pattern for GM or Ford) They match the 15 x 8 Dodge Cop car wheels I had on the rear before. Tires are 256/50/15's in an off brand made by Cooper. They're really a tad too small for the wheels, should have went with 275/50's as there's still some room left in the wheel wells. Might later get some 275's and use the 265's for the aluminum utility trailer in one of the pics.
