i was wondering if its possible to move my whole bench seat back a few inches. im 6ft3 and sometimes i just feel cramped. is it just easy as unbolting moving the seat back drilling new holes and bolting it back in? the only problem i can think of is the floor pans having an odd shape and it not sitting flat.

has anyone done this and or should it be possible?
    thnx,

Rob,,,It can be done but unless you build in the safety features of the factory setup it can be dangerous if in an accident. I too am 6' 3" and know how it can be cramped. The real problem with moving the seat is the placement for the holes not being reinforced. If you do reinforce it you would have a safe modification. Best thing to do is to get the car safely in the air and make a good plan. I have done stuff like this to other cars and have not had a problem, but I did build in the safety features. You will run into problems that are hard to correct if you move it too much, like different floor contour that will not match with the seat mount brackets.

1974 Maverick I bought for $500 8 years ago when I was 16. Since then I have invested $30,000 into it.
Rob C, go with the bucket seats. I am tall too. This way your passenger doesnt have to be as far back as you in the seat. Plus they look better.(just my opinion) Thom(y)

I had the same problem, I'm 6'6". I moved the seat farther back on the rails. That way I didn't have to change the mounting location on the floor.

i thought about the buckets but i hate to get rid of a factory part that is in such good condition as my bench is...not one tear nor flaw. so when the weather warms up ill look at moving the seat back on the rails like bmcdaniel did. thanks for the idea!
