Does anybody know what this part is? It has a line going to the PCV, I'm guessing something to do with emissions?
That's one of the gas recirculators they sold in the 70's. they give you better gas mileage. don't hook 2 in a row or yo gas tank will overfill.
You have to realize that the Arab oil embargo in 73 cause gas prices to go from 48 cents a gallon to double that, then supplies dried up and in some areas of the usa you could only buy gas on certain days depending how your license plate was. Even numbers one day, odd numbers the next. Many gas stations went out of business during that time. Now the public just pays whatever for the price of gas. Society has certainly changed. Dan
So is the consensus a gas recirculator? That seems like the most likely thing. I will have to pop it open tomorrow and check if it has gas or oil inside of it.
I dont think it would have anything to do with gas being that it's connected to the PCV valve on the valve cover. To me it looks like an oil seperator to keep oil from coming from the PCV valve into EGR plate under the carb. But thats just my guess.
Hence the death of the Muscle car as we used to know it and the birth of imports and dispoasable American cars, thank god for those of us that refuse to let the oil companies get us to give up our gas guzzlers.
Looks to me like a oil seperator I have seen them on some newer supercharged cars although much smaller.
It is an oil separator. I found the website, http://www.condensator.com/. I opened it up today and it was full to the brim with oil and other crap.
Looks like some one added a water or oil seperator to the car,, could have been getting allot of Blow by and creating moisture,, if there is a drain at the bottom that is probly what it is,,
