I was wondering if someone could tell me an easy way to get the look of a V-8 motor on a I-6 suspintion with out the V-8 i was also wondering if i should put a 302, a 351(w), or the original inline 6
If you want the look of a v-8 Maverick, you will need to change to 5 lug wheels, which entails new brakes (preferrably discs), a new rear end (8 inch). That is about it, but, the 69.5 never had a v-8, so you will have to get parts from a later car. Can't think of anything else at the moment. Good luck, Earl
the 69.5 has a SMALLER trans tunnel....very hard ta get a trans with a floor shift ta fit right..not sure if the c-4 will even fit...maybe with the small bellhousing Ive found on some of the 302's.dunno...I had one once and put an s-rod 4 speed in it to get the shifter to come through the hole I cut...a side mounted shifter....no way...lest ya like your right knee ta get bruised in reverse...just ramblin
I have a 70 and the bigger c4 fits fine and the Floor shifter i used was the b&m unimatic. looks wonderful
If by the question you want your front end lower - like it would be with the six cylinder springs and a V8 - without putting in a V8, just cut the coils to lower it a little. -Corbin P.S. There is no exterior body distinction between the 6 cylinder Mavs and the ones with V8s - they look the same. The only way you can tell is popping the hood, taking a look underneath, or reading the vin number.
The problem with "lookin" like a V-8 is your car can talk the talk...but can't walk the walk...ya might as well stay on the porch cuz you aint huntin with the big dawgs
Shee can "WALK THE WALK" Oh Yee Of Little Faith Just cause my Mav has a "LITTLE" inline six don't mean she cant run with the V-8's. When i first got my Mav it had been sittin for 4 - 5 years all i did was give it a little tune up and it w2as able to keep up with my uncles 302 powered 66 mustang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the only reason i might keep the I-6 is cause i'm only 16 and my dad thinks that if i put one of my V-8's in i would wrap my mav around a tree
The only thing a six does to prevent wrapping around a tree is that you won't be able to go as fast doing it. The operator is the one responsible for the actions of the car. If you are responsible, like most teenagers aren't, it shouldn't be a problem. Use your head and know what you are doing. I know too many idiots who think they are hot crap and wind up in the hospital close to death after rolling or totalling their cars. I am not trying to lecture, but speak to you as a peer, I am 18, but I know I am responsible for my actions, my car, and my life. Prove to your parents that you are responsible enough to handle the V8 and then continue on with that responsibility - don't drop it right after you get what you want. It pisses your parents off, and it could be your life. I'm not trying to be a harda$$ here, and if I am, I am sorry, but in order to prove to your parents that the V8 is ok for you, you have to prove it, and stick to it. If you do mess around a little in the car do it in sensible areas, not corners where the speedlimit is 25 and you want to see if you can make it going 80. Either engine can succeed in wrapping the car around a pole, so ultimately, it doesn't matter what you have- only the decisions you make -Corbin
Corbin said it best you can wrap yourself around a tree w/ a four banger. Just takes a little longer to get to 80. But if you take the time and spend the money to put the eight in why would you drive irresponsibly. If you drive w/ care all you have to do is look out for the other guy. Hanible, I always thought itd be neat to do up a I6. You can make that 6 do some really neat things, more torque. Hey Hanible think of it like this, you blow away somebody and flip your hood and show them the 6. Pretty cool You mean that Mav only has a I6
Yep thats all it has a ford 4.2 I-6 with a 1b carter carb and a 3 on the tree converted to floor shift :bananaman :bananaman :bananaman :bananaman
