    All I can tell you is that it is 2.47 geared with open diff.
    I know the other numbers tell you dates and such, but don't know the codes myself.

    Hmmm...didn't even know they made a 2.47. :hmmm:

    Sounds like a Granada/Monarch ratio to me.
    IIRC the Monarch 9" I had was 2.47.

    That 8LA is the built date code

    8 = 8th year (1968, 1978)
    L = 12th month - December
    A = 1st week

    So it was built in the first week of December - probably in 1978 with that high ratio of 2.47

    So my money would be on a 1979 Granada, Monarch, Versailles - something like that.

    :)

    Actually, the FORD book lists a WGB-AB as a 2.50:1

    That 1 after the AB is a drawing number/part change - maybe the change was to a 2.47:1

    Ya gotta love Ford and all the little odd differences
    :huh:

    The 2.47 I had was out of an 80 Monarch...
    Must have been a late model run part, during the last 2 years of production.

    Great gear ratio if you want to go to Bonneville or Maxton, NC and do some top speed runs. :thumbs2:
