Well guys ive decided to take on another project ,that im sure will slow mine down ,but shes worth it (Bev,my girlfriend )a car for her. I have found two interesting projects a original 1970 orange grabber with black interior all stock NO major rust anywere ,maybe 14 hours of minor body work prep and paint time in all 1000 bucks for the car ,this is a turn key driver.Car #2 a 1973 comet gt , this car was a project full out street strip race car ,it has a full rollcage certified for a 9 sec car ,half tub with a 9 inch rearend with front and rear disc brakes, the car was striped to bare metal complete bead blast but needs to be primmered and painted then completly put back together,i meen completly ie: front and rear suspention put back in, all the weather striping, all glass, all electical wiring ,dash ,carpets ,seats ect ,ect .800.00 for this complete project including 95 percent of the parts ,i dont know what way to go. cheers Jimmy2gates
tough call.... but if it was me id prolly get the comet. you see Grabbers all the time, but Comet GT's are quite a few less running around on the streets. i think this boils down to personally preference and which way you wanna go with a car. good luck and keep us posted (with pics)!
wel if the project is a car for ur gf.. does she need a 9sec certified drag car? i say buy both, get the maverick goin for her, build the drag car after
I personally would go for the Comet... even if just for body parts as I like the Comet better But it depends on what way your wanting to go w/ the car also... Better yet... why dont you ask HER?
I'm in the BUY BOTH camp, too. If it has to come down to buying just one though, what is your girlfriend going to use the car for? That should dictate the purchase. Still ... buy both and store the Comet until the Grabber is done...
Grabber has more value that you can document... (VIN) but I am a Comet guy so i like the COmet drag car too, the GT designation is nice but as i understand it you can turn any comet into a GT, can an origanal GT be documented ?
I think he's saying just the roll cage is certified to 9 seconds, not that the car actually goes that fast. Personally, I would just ask the girlfriend which car she wants. Does she just want an around town cruiser, or a real street machine?
