they were having a 1/2 sale at the junyard so i went all morning and found some pretty cool things, no mavericks though

aluminum wheels off a 92 crown vic(just need a wash and respray on the center caps)
3G alternator off a taurus(the one in my maverick is acting up, plus this one has a higher amperage)
Speaker Grills off a jeep cherokee
Electronic trunk latch off a T-Bird

all for under $100 with warranty:bouncy:

Well so far the trunk latch fit great(all you have to do is trim some metal and drill holes) but i couldn't find my keys to open it so i had my little brother go in there and open it. i changed the pullies on the alt i just have to wire it up and it looks really easy...i haven't fired it up because i had lost my keys but i just found them...and i just have to weld the new exhaust and buy some hoses for the brakes and power steering and she'll be ready for a test drive.:bouncy:

BTW:heres the 3G ALT diagram if anyone needs it(one of the easiest swaps)

and i found out the problem of my alternator was just a loose wire.

Good stuff, I've seen dozens of those wheels in the junkyards, never thought about putting them on a Maverick. Do tell more about the T-Bird latch, does this allow the trunk to be opened remotely with a button? If so, I may just have to go get me one of those. Would like to see pics of it installed to see what has to be done.

yep...i'll post pics this afternoon, i keep on locking my keys in the trunk so i though this was a great idea.

EDIT:heres some mock up pics....all you have to do is trim the extra metal so it fits inside the support bracket and drill some new mounting holes and wire up a button.

The 80's Crown Vic latch also works well and requires very little modification.

Wonder if the fancy 80's Town Car latch will work then, the one where you just lightly close the trunk and then it automatically pulls it self the rest of the way down. Looks like I have to go back to the junkyard this afternoon.

Hmm...I haven't looked at those. If they are the same as the 80's CV, then I bet so. A Town Car trunk latch on a Maverick? That would be cool. :thumbs2:

Ive used the t-bird latches in old 65-68 mustangs and they work really well. there shouldnt be any difference in putting one in a maverick... i just never thought about doing it to my car, un till now. maybe something to do in the future :)

im going to do the same thing on my car. i already have the alternator with correct pulley and everything, just haven't done it yet. but instead of running an inline fuse, i got a circuit breaker off of ebay that i plan to run
