After a lengthy divorce, I managed to get the 74 Merc Comet back that I was building for my now X. Now the bad news, the new 302 that I built is trashed. SHe ran it with out oil or coolant. Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh!!! I'm looking for a T%/Tremec to stick in it after the rebuild. I heard that there are "short input shaft" tranny's available that don't require the use of an adapter plate or a different bellhousing. Does any one have any info on these? Hope all have a great new year!
The input shafts are very easy to swap from short to long or vice versa. The longer input shafts came in the '94-'95 Mustang's. I put a T5 from a '92 GT into a '95 by simply swapping the input shaft, it literally took about 15 minutes to do. That said I don't know what you are trying to do, retain the stock clutch linkage or what. You can use a Fox Body bell housing/input shaft and set up a cable clutch. Probably best to ask this question in the technical section instead of new members..
